Dear People I love,

This was a pretty good week for letters, that made my week. You know who you are. I will try to be very prompt with the replies, because I don't want to go through that type of letter famine again. Especially with the crazy kind of news that comes from that much time without knowing what's going on. . . ^.~ I should have time to write today, because my companion will be packing. Yes, she got transferred and I am staying. Sad, but I'm really excited to stay in this area. It rocks. That was kinda selfish of me. . . heheh.

This last week was all right. Some good parts, some not so good. That's life. One thing to note is that the Lord is really mindful of us, and He really knows when we are honestly doing our best, and He blesses us for it. My companion has been suffering from these headaches this entire transfer that just knock her out. I have spent half the day at home for the last two weeks. Believe me, that makes waking up on time veeeery hard. (Don't worry, mom and dad, I've still been doing it. I know you wonder about that. . . ^.~)

And yet, with half of our working time, we have still managed to find new investigators, receive great referrals, and get people to commit to baptism. We were flushed into a practically dead area, and it definitely has a heartbeat now.

Adan picked a day to be baptized--March 7. Pretty much that's my birthday present. :D Probably the best one ever. He is awesome. Have I told you about him yet? Widower with a 4-yr-old, his white friend is a member and--completely through his example--led him to searching the church. Now Adan is getting baptized, and his aunt and uncle who live with him are starting to take the lessons as well. It rocks.

The guys having triplets--well, his wife is having them, but you know what I mean--is doing very well as well. We started teaching the Plan of Salvation, and we didn't have a lot of time so we just got through the beginning, but he was practically begging us to stay to finish explaining. He is completely struck by the idea--he loves this stuff. He actually got a little mad at his wife for not telling him about this before. (His wife is a member who actually was going to another church for about 6 years.) He rocks. It's fun to pray with him, because he is very involved when you pray. "Thank you Jesus."

One last piece of news--Heavenly Father loves you. Just in case you forgot or were unaware.

I need to go, but I love you and I LOVE your letters. Those of you who have served missions probably understand--sometimes, letters are the only thing that keep you going, or that keep you from killing your companion. So please, for the sake of my future companion, don't forget to write. ^.~

Love,

Dear Fam/Friends,

Another week, another email. Aren't you glad to hear from me again? :D I didn't get to email yesterday because it was President's Day, but I'm here now, so don't you worry. I'm sure you people just live off of the juice I send you. ^.~ Heheh.

Anyway, let me tell you a little about my week. But first, I need to remember what I did. . .

This whole mission thing is beginning to blur together.

On Friday something really awesome happened: we committed a man to baptism. And he accepted. YES. Have I told you about Adan yet? He's awesome. 35-ish widower with a 4-yr-old boy. He found the church through his good friend Ammon from work. He is totally legit. Very intelligent, has a lot of questions and really feels it. So when we taught about baptism and Hna. Martinez asked him if he would follow the example of Jesus Christ and be baptized by authority he said, "Si, Senorita." It was awesome. My heart jumped ten stories. It has been a while for us, and I was beginning to get a little discouraged. But we've got a lot of work here, and the Lord is teaching me a good lesson on how to have faith.

What else to tell you . . . ?

Nothing is really popping up, except to tell you about something I forgot last week--Sister Sylvia Allred from the Relief Society General Presidency was here and had a special fireside for the Hispanic sisters in this area. We took a picture with her. She's really sweet!

And Saturday was Valentine's Day. As I get older, I am beginning to appreciate the real reasons for the day--just every once in a while you need a reminder to just tell your loved ones they are loved. So, although it is highly commercialized and some people take it too far, I have decided that I do like Valentine's Day, except as a missionary. We had nothing to do that evening because we couldn't set any appointments because everyone was out doing something. Even our widower had something to do. We were pathetic. So we ent up buying some little toys for an apartment of Elders who hadn't gotten anything from their families. They were very grateful.

I love working with these Elders. It's like having a hoard of little brothers to take care of! Lol. Kyle, believe me, none of them add up to you. You're still the best little brother. Except you punch me in the face sometimes, and they don't. Punk.

I owe some of you awesome letters. Yesterday was a full P-Day, so I only got one letter done, but you know who you are, and that you're amazing, and that you will be getting a letter soon in reply.

That's it for now. I gotta go, because it's not actually P-Day and I shouldn't be wasting time. We've got work to do, people to find, souls to save!

Be safe, and know that some little Sister missionary is out there praying for you.

Love,
Hna. Crowley

Mon, 9 Feb 2009: Hey guys, it's Raining!

Dear Fam/Friends

I had a weird dream last night with Ryan Seacrest (the host of American Idol) Probably because I caught a bit of it at an investigator's house last week. It was pretty weird. How's that all going anyway? Any good juice?

We have one progressing investigator--he's a widower with a 4-yr-old. He is totally legit, and his friend who introduced him, Ammon, comes to every lesson--even though the lessons are in Spanish and he doesn't speak it, so I translate for him. I can translate for him! I think that's pretty awesome. Don't know when that happened, but one day I realized I could understand what people were saying! Not everything, of course, but definitely the gist. Plus I love Spanish. I'm thinking I'll study that when I get home. Maybe a double major or something. We'll see.

That's pretty much it. We had a baptism this Saturday, but he was not "ours"--but I started teaching him first. He was from my last area, so he still got baptized in my ward. . . Anyway, he's the sweetest 15-yr-old you'll ever meet, and he honestly loves the Church. It's amazing seeing a kid his age take this so seriously.

This was probably a boring email, but I was stuck in the house most of the week because my companion has been having migraines. And the other sisters have been sick. I've been the only healthy one, and I'm going insane. I HATE being in the house. The only thing that keeps missionaries sane as we do this whole year and 1/2 thing is keeping busy. When we're not kept busy, we go crazy. Me more than others I think.

I, in fact, am going a little nuts being inside this library. It's been raining today, so really all I want to do is go and jump in some puddles. We'll see if I can find a Sister who's healthy enough to do that. I think my district is going to go play soccer, so that'll be good for me. Get out some of this energy, hang out with people besides the three sick Hermanas. . .

So peace out for now. I think you're cool. For those of you who I haven't sent letters back yet, I promise I'm in the process. It's a long process because I got behind, but I'm on it. If we have another sick day, at least I'll have something to work on.

So one more thing--the Lord loves you. I know it, because He told me so. So take good care of yourself, ok? He wants you to be happy. Men (and women) are that they might have joy. So be joyful! John 16:33.

Love,
Hna. Crowley.
